We Make Technology Sound Timeless
At Schulmerich, we're fully committed to beautiful bell music and to the legions of musicians, worshippers, and others who've placed their trust in us over the years. For more than four decades--since 1962--we've built a tradition of handbell excellence, crafting instruments with thoughtfully engineered features and carefully refined manufacturing methods.
We listen to our customers. People like you, who've been instrumental in helping us develop meaningful product improvements like these...
We're committed to providing a handbell that meets today's standards in sound and performance. Our goal is to provide you with the ultimate ringing experience, while preserving your investment in Schulmerich handbells--an ongoing responsibility.
The innovations listed here are available to upgrade your Schulmerich handbells, regardless of when you purchased them or how old they are.

Yoke Upgrades
Our fifth-octave handbells used the conventional yoke shown in the foreground, until we developed the heavy-duty yoke assembly for better mechanical balance and sound.
Innovation Date: March 1985 |
New Clapper Heads
We've introduced a new clapper head for the range from G#6 to C7, to offer you more voicing diversity. New clapper heads in the upper fourth and fifth octaves provide longer life, too.
Innovation Date: June 1999 |
Pellethane* Springs
Softer than previous springs for better response and control, 100% Pellethane springs are the new standard on Schulmerich handbells C2 thru C8.
Innovation Date: Spring 2000

Lighter Handle Blocks
High-tech handle blocks are lighter and don't discolor.
Innovation Date: July 1990 |
Gold-Braided Handles
A gold braid design lets you distinguish naturals from accidentals at a glance. Traditional black handles are still available, of course.
Innovation Date: July, 1994 |
Downsized Handles
Narrower is better, when you're playing four-in-hand, or shelly techniques. So we're offering narrower handles for A5, A#5, B5, C6, C#6 and D6 bells.
Innovation Date: Early 2000 |
Master Touch™ Discs
Our Master Touch™ Guardian Discs are ergonomically designed to be more comfortable on ringers' hands. They're available in all-black or black and gold.
Innovation Date: June 1990 |
MelodyChime® Instruments
Our MelodyChime® Instruments were designed to set new standards for appearance, sound, and durability.
Ergonomic Design: Octagonal tube fits comfortable in hands of every size.
Solid Brass Shafts: Clapper shafts are solid and responsive on chimes G3 through B5. For lighter playing action and finer control, upper octaves use aluminum shafts.
Tough Finish: Textured powder coating for durability and long life, with ivory naturals and black accidentals.
Best Strike Point: Custom shaft lengths provide for the ideal strike point.
Innovation Date: April 1998 |
Innovative Resources
We've helped develop a new generation of instructional resources, covering handbells in liturgical settings, getting started with handbells, and meeting national music education standards.
In order to make caring for our handbells and MelodyChime® Instruments as easy as possible, we've created The Handbell Workshop, a high-spirited guide available in both VHS and CD-ROM formats. |
